Bookmark welcomes Paul Newell to the team!

It’s been an exciting few weeks for Bookmark with a host of new retained senior positions and some great conversations with new clients & candidates alike. However, by far the most significant development has been the addition of Paul Newell to the team. Paul joins Bookmark as a Director and will focus on growing our Financial Services footprint across Yorkshire & the North West. Paul has a fantastic reputation across the market and it’s fair to say has made a big impact already. Below, Paul discusses his first month and why he decided to join Bookmark.  

 

What a month! I’m only 4 weeks into joining Bookmark but it’s already feeling like home and any initial, unfounded doubts I might have had about changing roles and jumping into the ‘unknown’ after such a long time have been dispelled!

I was initially attracted to Bookmark as both Mike and Alex are highly respected in the marketing community and share the same values as me when it comes to recruitment. I was never unhappy in my previous role but the opportunity to join, and be completely hands-on in a newer, developing business as a partner was hugely exciting!

With a shortage of good marketing talent it’s ever important to be engaging with the right recruiters who really take the time to understand your business, the roles and have the proven networks you need. It’s always nice to have a familiar face to work with as well! This is certainly ringing true as the market seems to have reacted really well to Bookmark’s proposition of having a highly experienced recruiter, and leader of the business, hands-on managing your requirements. On top of this, I think if you’ve spoken to us previously you’ll know that we strive to be completely open and honest with you…. If you’re being unrealistic in your requirements or we’re not the best to deliver on it, we’re not afraid to tell you! If you’re not going to get 5 perfect people for a short list, we’ll give you a gentle reality check!

Whilst I imagine our initial proposition of dealing purely with one of the 3 of us will evolve as we grow, we will be putting a huge focus on recruiting people with the right knowledge of the sector so that it’s not diluted and you will always speak to an expert.

It’s great to be incredibly busy already and been so encouraging to have such strong support from the people in my existing network and a pleasure to be speaking with, and meeting some really interesting new clients and candidates.

So if we’ve not caught up as yet, or we’ve never spoken previously, it would be great to get something in the diary!
